Non-allergy breakfast ideas: reader solutions!
Thanks to everyone who shared their breakfast ideas as part of Kids Health Notes give-away of Envirokidz Cereals. That question wasn’t random. My daughter has allergies to dairy, eggs and nuts, so breakfast ideas are always a challenge, what with most prepared foods nowadays having ingredients she can’t have. So I made notes from your “suggestions” and I tried out some for her.
Here are new breakfast menu ideas for those with allergies to dairy, eggs and nuts:
- Fruits (always good option!)
- Cheerios (wholegrain, plain)
- Cheerios Fruitloops (too sweet for us, so I mix this with plain Cheerios)
- Burger King French Toast Sticks and Hash Browns (as long as cooked in dedicated fryer)
- Quaker Oats (plain/regular) - add cinnamon or nutmeg and sugar, yummy!
- Thomas Plain Bagels (always check label that ingredients didn’t change)
- Schmidt’s Blue Ribbon White Bread
- Wheat Tortilla and Bacon
- Cherrybrook Kitchen Pancakes (really taste like regular pancakes!) with soy butter and maple syrup
- Oreos (not exactly healthy) :-)
As always, check the label for ingredients when buying prepackaged products, as ingredients may change. But so far, I’ve been safe with the choices above.
Feel free to add more ideas in the comment section. We need all the help we can get, getting our allergic children to eat better.
