Kids Health Notes Give-away: Dream Aid pillow covers
Your children’s bedtime… do you say “aaah” with a smile, or “aargh!” with a cry? …. I am totally with you. I believe that a healthy sleeping habit is essential for our children’s well-being, but getting them into their beds can be nightly struggle for most of us.
My next give-away will NOT answer our bedtime woes, but I hope these are fun and encouraging enough to get our children into their beds. And if they do dream, let them be sweet and happy.
Introducing the DREAMAID Pillow Covers! These pillow covers are printed with fun expressions, which encourage children to have sweet dreams! With phrases such as “I Love You”, “Sweet Dreams”, “Good Night, Sleep Tight”, and “One Sheep, Two Sheep, Three Sheep, Sleep” you can be rest assured that bedtime just got a whole lot easier. There are over 40 messages to choose from at www.dreamaidproducts.com (retails over $24.00). Now I don’t know that I’m dreaming better because of it, but my Dream Aid pillow cover says “celebrate the day’s end, and all of life’s gifts…” which does help in giving me a positive take on my day, no matter what it was. And maybe it helps erase away some of the stress and leaves behind positive emotions.
So to help our children count down to peaceful sleep, I am giving away two (2) pillow covers with “one sheep, two sheep, three sheep - sleep!”

Bedtime stories are the best. Bath time, brush teeth, into ‘jams and into bed, and mom or dad gets to read “Goodnight, Moon” for the 8,343rd time.

We read a story, cuddle and I tell him the things he did that day that made me proud. If he told someone “thank-you”, picked up after himself, or sat nicely at the dinner table, I always make a positive comment about it.

After the bath it is stretch, yawn, wiggle time. Sometimes giggle time. But it helps to let the body know, it is time to sleep. Yawn, stretch ad wiggle to get comfortable.
Then on with the white noise maker. Off with the light.

Before we put our 11 month old son to bed, my husband and I both give him a bath, read a book or play in his room a few minutes. As soon as he has his “bubba” and sees his floride coming he knows its time to sleep! he goes into his crib with a sound soother playing water and goes right down for us!

We snuggle together in the bed. I start with my daughters’ toes and say “goodnight toes” and so on - toes, ankle, knees, belly button, arms, shoulders etc etc - all the way to all the way up to “good night head”. She’s usually asleep by then and if not, we start over . . .

With three little boys 4 years, 2 year and 9 months, we have to have a routine. We take a bath, put on PJs, brush our teeth, watch one 30 minute (or less) show as a family, then either together or divided we read books for 15 to 30 minutes, and end the night with prayers and a kiss before leaving the room.

If laying down with my little one and saying good night to all the body parts doesn’t do the trick, I start saying good night (in a very soft voice) to pretty much everything I can think of that is significant in her life: ‘good night park, goodnight toothbrush, kitty cat, spoon, books, shoes and so on and so on. This ALWAYS works because I can go on for a long time!

We all take a wand (stick, pencil, whatever) wave it around and say-”alakazam, alakazoom, dream time magic, come into this room” and then they are supposed to have good dreams. My 10 yr. old down to my 2 yr. old do this. (I think the boys just like waving the “wands” though).
By the way-these pillows are the coolest things I have ever seen.
