“Sleeping like a baby”
There’s a quote that says -
“People who say they sleep like a baby usually don’t have one.”
To which I say, I sleep like a baby… and I have one!
With a two-week old infant, these days I am sleeping like a baby. I get only 2 hours of sleep at a time, maybe 3 times in a day if I’m lucky.
I’m also a milk-machine now, and drip-drip-drip, my lil’ one thinks it’s a never-ending supply.
There’s a toddler in tow, who has had 3 major life changes to her life in the past few months - potty training, crib-to-bed and a new sibling. She’s a trouper for being nice to her brother, but her young mind can only adjust so much. And these days, that means, she’s more demanding of mommy-time.
But I am blessed. I have my parents for a few months so we are never hungry. My dad is a whiz with his granddaughter and makes up for less attention from me. Our daughter adores her new baby. My husband is more supportive and helpful than ever and I’ve never been more in love with him like this. And, “this too shall pass”, as wise moms before me have said.
So I sleep like a baby, all two hours short, with a smile on my face and peace in my heart. This is motherhood, and it’s the best thing ever.

Lovely lovely post — I remember those first days so well, and so fondly (fortunately, my parents took lots and lots of photos!). Sweet (short) dreams……
